In an exclusive interview with News24, Saurabh Tiwari heaped huge praise for Virat Kohli and revealed about his intensive practice session in Ranchi.

Former India cricketer Saurabh Tiwari who was once a teammate of Virat Kohli, is currently holding the position of Secretary at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA). On November 30, the first ODI match between India and South Africa was played in Ranchi where Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were the top performers.

The result was anticipated till the very last over as the Proteas played exceptionally well but then lost by 17 runs. India emerged dominant and took 1-0 lead after winning the match. However. Saurabh had already informed about the pitch conditions to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, in and interview with Alsaba Zaya of News24, Saurabh Tiwari shared the story and he also revealed how Virat Kohli practiced intensively as he came two days early.

“I have been playing at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi for 14 years. I am very familiar with the pitch conditions here. I know exactly how much rolling is needed and how much water to apply. I have previously stated that 300 runs is not a winning score here. To win, you need to score around 340-350 runs when batting first.” Saurabh on informing about the pitch conditions

“Virat Kohli arrived in Ranchi two days before the match. He practiced intensively at the center wicket. Rohit Sharma also batted a lot on the eve of the match, so both players had a good understanding of the pitch conditions.”

Saurabh Tiwari heaped huge praise for Virat Kohli mentioning that whenever he is in form any kind of pitch becomes easy for him and Tiwari further feels that both Kohli and Rohit are fully fit to keep playing for a long time.

“Virat is a legendary player. When he is in form, even the toughest of pitches become easy for him.”

The former India cricketer Saurabh Tiwari, now 35, made his debut for India in an ODI against Australia in Visakhapatnam. He played 3 ODIs for India, scoring 49 runs. In the IPL, Tiwari played for four teams and scored 1494 runs in 74 innings from 93 matches at an average of 28.73. He announced his retirement from cricket last year.
