India won the Asia Cup over Pakistan and this was their 9th win – most by a team. But even after such a historic victory, chaos marred the celebrations. Already replete with India-Pakistan controversies, the tournament concluded on an even more unusual note: the champions left the night without the trophy.
As midnight gave way to September 29, there was no sign of the highly anticipated post-match ceremony. Rumors started floating around some putting India’s refusal to receive the trophy from ACC president Mohsin Naqvi on hold, others blaming Pakistan’s camp for the unprecedented delay. Indian players from Rinku Singh to Shubman Gill and Kuldeep Yadav and bowling coach Morne Morkel, all of whom had enthusiastically contributed to the broadcasters, were overjoyed. After the show returned to the Sony studio, where Sanjana Ganesan, Wasim Akram, and Ravi Shastri analyzed the match, the ceremony presentation appeared imminent. But what happened was anything but mundane.

Rather than celebrating with the trophy, India’s players found themselves stranded on the podium. The ceremony eventually got underway an hour later, only for presenter Simon Doull to make the announcement: the ACC has informed us that India will not be collecting their trophy tonight’ What transpired left many stunned ACC and PCB head Naqvi left the venue with Asia Cup 2025 trophy, whilst the winning Indian team headed back to their hotel trophy-less, deprived of the moment they deserved.
What happened was expected as Pakistan keeps on losing on-field but there cheap tactics to ruin people’s peace never stops whether its on or off the field. The chairman of ACC ran away with the trophy to show how bitter of a spoilsport he is, while India on the other hand still managed to celebrate its moment and the win against the losers.
