India won the Asia Cup 2025 after defeating Pakistan but a big controversy was stirred afterwards when India refused to take trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, who is the Pakistan Cricket Board chief and Asia Cricket Council Chairman. Since, India refused Naqvi disgracefully ran away with the trophy and tried spoiling India’s celebration.
Then an ACC meeting was held, where BCCI representatives and Naqvi was also present. The Times Now has reported that Mohsin Naqvi apologised to BCCI but he still remains adamant about handing over the trophy to the winning team. He has refused to give back the trophy and wants Suryakumar Yadav to collect it from Dubai.
After hearing to this absurd demand, BCCI gave a sharp reply saying “he didn’t collect the trophy when you were there in front of him, you think he will come now?” as mentioned by Times Now
Naqvi is now all set to leave for Lahore today (October 1) and has demanded that Suryakumar Yadav has to come to Dubai in order to collect the trophy. The BCCI on the other hand asked Naqvi to respectfully give back the trophy but he remains unmoved.
In the meeting Naqvi refused to congratulate India but he was finally forced to do that by BCCI representative Ashish Shelar. The BCCI has made it crystal clear that the trophy belongs to them and it should be immediately handed over. But Naqvi wasn’t moved a bit, he still hasn’t agreed to give back the trophy to India which has left BCCI furious. Now the BCCI will file an official complaint to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
