Mohammad Yousuf Stoops to new low on Live TV, targets Suryakumar Yadav with derogatory remarks – WATCH

Many former Pakistan cricketers have been making personal remarks and blaming the Indian team for a lack of sportsmanship. But nobody stooped so low as Mohammad Yousuf.

The India-Pakistan rivalry has taken a tough and uncomfortable turn, with tensions over flowing not only on the field but in TV studios and on social media. After the much-talked-about handshake row when Indian players were accused of shunning traditional post-match handshakes with their Pakistani counterparts there was no letting up on the boiling emotions, particularly on the Pakistani side.

What started as a sporting event has soon become a political hot button, and now, ex-cricketers are upping the ante. Shoaib Akhtar gave his typical belligerent commentary, whereas Rashid Latif and Shahid Afridi went one step further by making personal remarks and blaming the Indian team for a lack of sportsmanship. But nobody stooped so low as Mohammad Yousuf.

During a panel discussion on SAMAA TV, the ex-Pakistan batsman created huge controversy when he made a derogatory and improper comment at India captain Suryakumar Yadav. Asked to provide his feedback on India’s post-match behavior and their comprehensive seven-wicket win, Yousuf digressed from commentary and slid into abuse, delivering insulting language on live television. His comments soon attracted criticism on the internet, with the public, and commentators alike, condemning his words and behavior unbefitting a one-time international player.

Yousuf did not stop at verbal abuse. He proceeded to allege Indian team advantage from partisanship of umpires, implying that the umpires were biased towards India during the course of the game. While India did have two LBW decisions go their way one each against Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy both dismissals looked right on review. Pakistan, meanwhile, were also able to overturn some incorrect on-field decisions with Fakhar Zaman, Salman Ali Agha, and Sahibzada Farhan all rescued by DRS after initial mistakes.

Though these small gains, Pakistan could not present a challenging total. Sliding to 127/9 in 20 overs, late-order resistance was the only thing offered by Shaheen Afridi, whose thrilling 33 from 16 balls, including four towering sixes, brought some respectability to the score.

India’s reply was clinical. With Abhishek Sharma’s fiery start, the Men in Blue overhauled the target with ease, wrapping up the match in almost 16 overs. Though they lost Shubman Gill, Abhishek, and Tilak Varma, the chase never appeared uncertain, another crushing victory over Pakistan in recent matches.
