Melbourne Crowd Turns DISRESPECTFUL, Virat Kohli Gives Death Stare After Fans Abuse Him | Watch Video

The events of the day, including Virat Kohli’s altercations and the sudden collapse of India’s middle order, have set the stage for a tense Day 3 at the MCG.

Virat Kohli was at the eye of another heated controversy at Melbourne Cricket Ground during the fourth Test against Australia. After Kohli was dismissed for 36 runs in India’s first innings, he had a charged-up argument with a segment of the Australian crowd. The boos and jers from the fans were just what the Indian batter was looking for, it seems, to make him infuriated. The situation escalated when Kohli, visibly irritated, returned from the dressing room and confronted the fans, exchanging looks with those mocking him from above.

A Frustrating Day for Kohli: Dismissal and Run-Out Incident

Kohli’s innings on Day 2 ended in disappointment, as he was dismissed for 36 in the final session of the day after falling to a familiar trap—nicking a delivery outside the off-stump. His departure came mere moments after he was party to a disastrous run-out with Yashasvi Jaiswal, which ended a promising 102-run partnership for the third wicket. The pair had given India hope of salvaging the Test when Jaiswal fell for 82 shortly thereafter, sending India’s middle order crumbling. Three wickets in just half an hour would make India’s recovery impossible at the end of the day as they lost by 310 runs for Australia’s first-innings total.

Altercation that Kohli had with Sam Konstas earlier

The drama surrounding Kohli did not start on Day 2. On the first day of the Test, he had been involved in a fiery altercation with Australian debutant Sam Konstas. The incident occurred when Kohli shoulder-barged the 19-year-old Konstas during a change of ends, triggering a verbal spat between the two. The International Cricket Council (ICC) stepped in, handing Kohli a 20% match fee fine and a demerit point for the unsporting behavior.

The events of the day, including Kohli’s altercations and the sudden collapse of India’s middle order, have set the stage for a tense Day 3 at the MCG.
