Matthew Wade’s Heroics In T20 World Cup 2021: The semifinal marked an untimely end to Pakistan’s superb T20 World Cup 2021 journey, ending in a dismal five-wicket loss against Australia. Having put up a good total of 176/4 in Dubai, the Men in Green seemed on their way to the final. But powerful hitting from Matthew Wade and Marcus Stoinis turned the tide of the match.
There is particularly Wade who was absolutely exceptional, as he accumulated 41 not out in just 17 balls while he hit Shaheen Afridi for three consecutive sixes in a very crucial last but one over that sent his side winning. Incidentally Hasan Ali dropped the catch from this man Wade and it hurt him badly for Pakistan on this day.

Matthew Wade On His Partnership With Stoinis
“I was a bit unsure but Marcus showed me the way out. There was one short side and I was confident that if I had to target that then I could pull it off, but it got down to two-a-ball and you had to hit everything in your arc. I got a boundary away early on and then stalled for 5-6 balls, but Marcus got the boundary away and got us to a total where I was confident in the last two overs. It hasn’t sunk in but probably when I sit down tonight it might sink in. I was out of the two team for 2-3 years, just came back 20 games ago and happy to have repaid the faith.”

A Sad End To Pakistan’s World Cup Campaign
Pakistan had kicked off the tournament pretty well, as they went undefeated through the entire campaign; the country won all their five group matches pretty easily. Such a perfect match had gained them tremendous momentum, and many fans placed very high hopes on this great journey, but a wonderful journey came to an extremely swift end when Pakistan met Australia in the semi-finals since they lost the former by five wickets. It dashed hopes of making it to the final, but it also spelled the end of their very impressive 16-match T20 International winning streak at home in the UAE. It was a bitter end to what had been an excellent tournament for this promising team.
