The Aussies, who were the top side across the previous WTC cycle, failed to hold on to their crown at Lord’s—beaten by a fierce South African unit that rose to the challenge when it was needed most.

Kagiso Rabada was absolutely magnificent in the WTC final, taking five wickets in the first innings and adding four more in the second. His 9-wicket haul played a crucial role in helping South Africa win a record milestone victory against the defending champions.
