It was an unforgettable night for India as the Women’s team did wonders and defeated Australia in the semi-final of ODI World Cup. The Harmanpreet Kaur led side scripted the most iconic moment at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and stunned everyone as they clinched victory.
Jemimah Rodrigues was the star of the match as she played the most magnificent innings of her career and took India towards a win. She remained unbeaten and scored 127 off 134 deliveries which included 14 fours. The hosts crossed the finish line with five wickets remaining and 9 balls still left spare. While everyone was emotional and celebrating, Jeminah broke down in tears, moments later she folded her hands and whispered heartfelt “thank you” in front of the crowd.
Rodrigues was announced as the Player of the Match and after receiving the award she went straight to her family. The emotions overflowed and she hugged her father tightly while he remained proud yet composed.
