Jasprit Bumrah’s workload management very crucial – Former Indian coach highlights significant concern

It’s worth noting that Bumrah has already been rested for the ODI leg of the upcoming white-ball tour of Australia and has only been included in the T20I squad.

Abhishek Nayar, who was a former assistant coach with India, has opined that Jasprit Bumrah’s workload needs to be handled carefully, and the pacer should be rested for the second Test against West Indies, which will get underway this Friday in New Delhi.

Nayar also had his take on some of the key figures, appreciating KL Rahul’s attitude, Dhruv Jurel’s calmness, Kuldeep Yadav’s game with the ball, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s voracious appetite for runs, and the opportunity Sai Sudharsan has to leave his mark.

“I think Bumrah is going to play this Test. The way the team has been selected, without Bumrah for the ODI series against Australia, it seems India wants to win this test against the West Indies with a good margin, which is important for the WTC. Personally, I believe Bumrah should be rested because he’s extremely valuable. After this series, we have another Test series and then the T20 World Cup. I’d like to see him get some rest, but it looks like he won’t and will play this match,” he said.

It should be mentioned that Bumrah has already been rested out for the ODI component of the forthcoming white-ball tour of Australia and has only been named in the T20I team. In an interview with JioStar, Nayar highlighted the long-term pay-off in maintaining Bumrah’s fitness and was pressed to reveal why resting him out for the last Test against the Windies would be a good decision.
