The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be starting from February 19 and India’s pace attack is under the spotlight due to Jasprit Bumrah’s uncertain participation. Bumrah has been sidelined due to back issues, and while he has started his rehabilitation, questions loom over whether he will be fully fit in time for the tournament. If the star pacer gets ruled out then India will be needing a suitable replacement to maintain their bowling attack.

Harshit Rana has quickly made a name foe himself with his impressive performance in the limited-overs format. The 23-year old fast bowler has shown great potential and in the recent ODI series against England where he made his debut, he picked four wickets in two matches. Rana’s energetic, aggressive style, combined with his ability to bowl at high speeds, makes him a strong candidate to replace Bumrah.

Prasidh Krishna
Another strong contender for Bumrah’s spot is Prasidh Krishna, he became a vital part for India in limited-overs format. He has shown his ability to trouble the batters and bowl deliveries that don’t let the batters stabilize. He has played 17 ODIs in which he has picked 29 wickets with an economy of 5.60.
Shardul Thakur
If India needs a replacement Shardul Thakur can be an ideal choice as he brings in his all-round capabilities adding balance to the team batting in lower-order. He did wonders in the recent Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season as he scored 396 runs in 8 matches and even picked 30 wickets. His current fiery form will provide a great boost to India’s Champions Trophy squad.
Shardul has played 47 ODI matches for India in which he has picked 65 wickets with an economy of 6.22, hence his experience would also be an added bonus
