Jharkhand captain and wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan scripted history on Thursday with a blazing century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025 final against Haryana. Kishan became only the second batter in SMAT history to score a hundred in a final and the first from Jharkhand to reach triple figures in the tournament’s big match.
Ishan Kishan’s explosive innings
Ishan tore apart Haryana’s bowling attack, led by India international Anshul Kamboj. The left-hander smashed 10 sixes and 6 fours, scoring 101 runs off just 49 balls. His innings included a 5th century in SMAT, achieved in only 62 innings, matching the record of Abhishek Sharma, who has 5 hundreds in 54 innings.
Although pacer Sumit Kumar eventually dismissed him, Kishan had already dented Haryana’s confidence in the final. His effort helped Jharkhand post a massive 262 for 3 in 20 overs, thanks to a 177-run second-wicket partnership with Kumar Kushagra and a 75-run fourth-wicket stand with Anukul Roy and Robin Minz.

Haryana’s struggling bowling attack
Haryana’s bowlers had a tough day, leaking runs at an economy rate exceeding 10. Jharkhand’s dominant batting display, led by Kishan, ensured a commanding total. The partnerships between Kishan-Kushagra and Roy-Minz proved decisive in setting up a strong platform in the final.
