India’s legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been India’s one of greatest captains and the most iconic wicket-keeper batters in International cricket. Despite being a superstar, Dhoni is known for his humbleness and down to earth attitude as he leads a very simple life. Now former India wicket-keeper Aakash Chopra recently shared an interesting insight where Chopra recalled an incident from 2004 when India A team toured Zimbabwe and Kenya.
Upon reaching the team hotel, Aakash Chopra was informed that he will be staying with MS Dhoni – who was a young budding cricketer at the time. Aakash then revealed that he stayed with Dhoni for almost a month during that camp and noticed his habits and food choices.

In a recent interview with Lallantop, Chopra revealed an interesting story related to MS Dhoni and mentioned “I asked Dhoni if he was a vegetarian or a non-vegetarian. This was also an issue because we had to order food. If both were vegetarians and both were non-vegetarians, things would be easier. I am a vegetarian.”
‘What do you eat?’ I said vegetarian, so the child (Dhoni) ate vegetarian food for 30 days. I later found out that he is a non-vegetarian. But inside the room, he never called the room service and asked them to send him something else. You can call Dhoni’s nature shy, but at the same time, he was full of confidence. Dhoni knew what he was doing and would definitely do something.”
After retiring from International cricket in 2020, MS Dhoni is now only seen playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and he will be returning back to action in the next season – IPL 2026 for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
