The trade deal which was highly anticipated between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) has hit a road block. Almost 48 hours have passed since the franchises passed the Expression of Interest (EOI) but the BCCI has not yet any formal request of approval.
According to Cricbuzz, there is a delay in Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson swap because the quota of overseas players is full in Rajasthan Royals. This means that Sam Curran cannot be added in the squad because the spots are already full and it Royals want to add Curran then the franchise needs to release one of the existing foreign players.

Another challenge that has turned up for the Royals is limited player purse. The Royals only have 30 lakh remaining while Sam Curran’s auction value stands at INR 2.4 crore. Currently, their overseas contingent includes Jofra Archer, Shimron Hetmyer, Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Kwena Maphaka, Nandre Burger, and Lhuandré Pretorius, alongside 14 Indian players.
The Rajasthan Royals currently has 22 players and they can now add only maximum of three players because the permitted strength is 25. Now the reports suggest that Rajasthan Royals is considering to let go of their Sri Lanka spinner Wanindu Hasaranga (INR 5.25 crore) and Maheesh Theekshana (INR 4.40 crore). The retention deadline is 15 November and all the franchise are expected to announced their retained and released players list by then.
According to a source quoted by Cricbuzz, the trade between CSK and RR is “Possible but unlikely, “I cannot guarantee it will not be stalled. But having come this far, the likelihood of one of them backing out is less.”
