Sanju Samson has been one of the most prominent wicket-keeper batter, he is attracting significant attention ahead of the IPL mini-auction. He has been in spotlight due to multiple trade talks with different franchises that Rajasthan Royals has approached. It was reported that Samson expressed to part ways with the Royals, hence ending his seven-year association with the franchise.
According to reports emerging in The Times of India, Samson was all set to return to his old franchise Delhi Capitals via a swap deal involving Tristan Stubbs. Currently, Rajasthan Royals are said to be in a deal with Chennai Super Kings, wanting to swap Samson for the all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Cricbuzz reports that RR may even want Dewald Brevis as part of the deal, which might further complicate the negotiations. Brevis, who had joined CSK mid-season in IPL 2025 as an injury replacement, impressed heavily by scoring 225 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 180, despite the team struggling that year.
The franchise is learnt to be in discussions with CSK, led by RR owner Manoj Badale. However, the five-time champions are understood to be firm on not including any other player besides Jadeja in the swap. CSK had already sounded out Jadeja before the trade talks with the Royals began.
The report claims Samson, also the captain of RR, has asked for the transfer amidst tensions within the team, including his disappointment over the franchise letting go of Jos Buttler ahead of the IPL mega auction last year. The 30-year-old has expressed his frustration for some time now and desire to start afresh with a new franchise.
