The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the biggest cricketing tournaments in the world, it is usually held from March to May. But now one of the major development that comes is – the cricket fans who want to attend the event will have to pay more for their seats as the Goods and Service Tax (GST) on IPL tickets has been raised from 28% to 40%.
The 40% GST only applies to IPL matches, while other domestic and international cricket matches will continue to have standard 18% GST. This means that the ticket prices of IPL in 2026 will be even more costly. With thousands of fans coming and watching every single game, they will now have to pay even more to watch their favourite stars play.
What Are The New IPL Ticket Prices?
A ticket for INR 500 will cost INR 700 (earlier it was INR 640). If is ticket is for INR 1000 now it will cost INR 1400 (earlier INR 1280) and if a fan wants to buy a ticket for INR 2000 now it will cost INR 2800 (earlier INR 2560).

The hike will have a direct impact on all the categories of seats, from general to hospitality all of the prices have been changed.
With the revised GST rate pushing ticket costs higher, fans should plan purchases well in advance. Booking early through official channels remains the safest option to secure seats and avoid inflated resale prices.
