Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has been one of the players in spotlight for the upcoming IPL 2026 auction which will be held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi. Green has placed himself in the group of 45 exclusive players with the highest base price of INR 2 cr. Interestingly, the list includes just two Indian players, according to a report by ESPNcricinfo. A total of 1,355 players have signed up for the auction, with the IPL sharing the complete list with all franchises following the closure of the registration window on Sunday.

Green, who had missed the IPL 2025 mega auction because of a back injury, is likely to be one of the most sought-after overseas players at the auction. With KKR and CSK having two of the biggest purses – INR 64.3 crore and INR 43.4 crore respectively – both sides are likely to go after the Australian all-rounder. Both teams have slots available for overseas players too, making him a strong contender for either of the two teams. As far as KKR are considered, the possibility of buying Green becomes even stronger after they released West Indies T20 star Andre Russell, who later confirmed his retirement from the cash-rich league. The franchise also released Venkatesh Iyer, freeing INR 23.5 crore, leaving them to fill 12 spots including six overseas players.

Chennai, in that case, may consider Green as a like-for-like replacement for England’s Sam Curran, whom they traded to Rajasthan Royals in the deal involving Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson.

The 45 players in the maximum base-price bracket also include just two Indian names: Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi. Bishnoi, retained by Lucknow Super Giants at INR 11 crore last season, was let go ahead of this auction after a disappointing season.
