Despite not having any takers in the early seasons, Sarfaraz finally found one in CSK, who became their sixth recruit in the auction. His previous appearance in the Indian Premier League was in 2023, where he represented Delhi Capital in a encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Sarfaraz has been a result-oriented batsman in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament so far, scoring 256 runs in six innings played. He has an average of 64.00 and a strike rate of 182.85.
After being selected this time for IPL 2026, Sarfaraz Khan reacted and thanked CSK for giving him a new life.

This auction witnessed history being made too, as uncapped players Kartik Sharma and Prashant Veer got bids of an astronomical amount of INR 14.20 crores each by CSK. Now, both players are joint-most expensive uncapped players in IPL history. In other news, the team also bought West Indies all-rounder Akeel Hosein at his base price of INR 2 crores.
CSK also fortified their team by buying Sarfaraz Khan, Matt Henry, and Rahul Chahar. The franchise, earlier in the day, made one of the biggest transactions at the auction by trading wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson for INR 18 crore.

In a large revamp, CSK bid adieu to their senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and overseas signing Sam Curran, who both joined Rajasthan Royals. The Chennai franchise also let go of Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana, who freed up INR 13 crore in their purse.
Ruturaj Gaikwad is still an integral part of this leadership pool, with MS Dhoni still being associated with this team as they are getting ready for the next season.
