There are teams with largest purse like Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) could look to go after him. However there is a catch as he may not be able to cross the INR 18 crore mark meaning he will not be able to become the most expensive buy in the IPL history.

The Maximum Fee Rule

The Maximum Rule was introduced last year to address the concerns which were raised by the franchises. This has been implemented so that the overseas players cannot take advantage of the supply-demand imbalance. Under this rule, the foreign players cannot receive more than INR 18 crores. If by chance the bid exceeds the limit amount then it will be used by the BCCI for player welfare.

The maximum fee rule does not apply to the Indian players, it is only for the overseas players. The Indian players will receive the full amount of the auction price which will be deducted from the franchise’s purse.
