He came in after the team lost Hardik Pandya. He had a hard time season in his debut season of captaincy. The first season winners were Titans and were at eighth in IPL 2024 league table with only 12 points. They won five games and lost seven. By the end of the 14 matches, their net run rate was -1.063.

“Shubman Gill to lead the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025, and Rashid Khan will play under him. Many big teams were eyeing him and were looking to have him in auction. Gill wants to stay loyal to GT and build a strong team,” GT sources told ANI.
Gill Outstanding In IPL
Gill has had a good outing in his first season as captain, scoring 426 runs at an average of 38.73 and a strike rate of 147.40 while batting at the top. Overall in his IPL career, Shubman Gill has 3216 runs in 103 matches, with an average of 37.84 and a strike rate of 135.70.
