The start of the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been slightly postponed, with the tournament now set to begin on March 21 instead of the previously announced date. According to Cricbuzz, the final is likely to be held on May 25, and both the opening match and the grand finale will take place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
What Was The Reason Behind Schedule Change?
According to a report by Cricbuzz, there are two versions that have circulating regarding the revised IPL Schedule. It was originally communicated by BCCI that the tournament would start from March 14 to May 25 2025, but these were not the official dates.
One reason for the delay is attributed to a request from broadcasters who allegedly wanted a later start, considering the Champions Trophy final is scheduled for March 9—just days before the original IPL start. However, sources within the broadcasting network have denied making such a request.
