MS Dhoni finally laid rest any apprehensions about his participation in the incoming Indian Premier League season, relieving fans of Chennai Super Kings. The franchise is quick to clarify that their iconic skipper is going to play this season. Though MS Dhoni‘s decision was largely on expectations, CSK officials had last stated that they are waiting for his confirmation-a formal process expected to be released by October 28.

‘I Want To Enjoy The Game’ Says Dhoni
“I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I am able to play,” Dhoni was quoted as saying to TOI.
“When you play cricket like a professional sport, it becomes difficult to enjoy it just like a game. That’s what I want to do. It’s not easy.
“The emotions keep coming, the commitments are there. I want to enjoy the game for the next few years. I have to keep myself fit for nine months, so that I can play two and a half months of IPL. You need to plan it out, but at the same time chill a bit.”
CSK’s Retention Strategy
With Dhoni clearing the air, the franchise is all set to finalize its retention strategy. As per CSK official Viswanathan, Dhoni will be talking to the franchise owner N. Srinivasan in the coming days to finalize the list of retained players. Dhoni will be under the uncapped category and will have an auction price of INR 4 crore. The biggest retention will likely be Ravindra Jadeja, followed by Ruturaj Gaikwad. CSK’s top bowler Matheesha Pathirana is also likely to be retained, and his manager finalised the deal in Chennai last week. Players reportedly considered for retention are Shivam Dube, Devon Conway, and uncapped Sameer Rizvi, of whom two are likely to be retained. The last word would be put in during the next conversation between Srinivasan and Dhoni, who is expected to return from Goa soon.
