MS Dhoni added one more feather to his cap. The CSK veteran is the first wicket-keeper in the history of the IPL to have taken 150 catches behind the stumps. This achievement came when he held Nehal Wadhera on the bowling of R Ashwin in the 8th over of the PBKS match, a routine grab for someone like Dhoni. Close to Dhoni’s record is Dinesh Karthik, with 137 catches.
Legend Behind The Stumps
Apart from catches, Dhoni’s legacy as a wicketkeeper is marked by his blur-fast stumpings and big-game performances. With 45 stumpings in his kitty, his quick reflexes and awareness of the game have frequently changed the momentum in CSK’s favor at critical points of matches.
Impressive IPL Career Stats
Perhaps the most reliable run-scorer in IPL history, Dhoni is now the sixth highest scorer overall with 5,346 runs at an average of 39.31 and a strike rate of well over 137. He has 24 half-centuries, a career high of 84. In the current 2025 season, Dhoni has scored 103 runs in five innings with a good average of 51.50 and a strike rate of 153.73, his highest score being 30.

CSK’s Current Struggles
Even with Dhoni’s personal brilliance, CSK still has been struggling this season. The team has lost four out of five games and, strangely, not once batted first. As the tournament continues, CSK will hope their great captain can keep delivering both behind the wickets and with the bat.
