Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were seen doing special puja before starting their training camp at the Eden Gardens on March 12. The team started the session with a prayer ceremony which was attended by captain Ajinkya Rahane, head coach Chandrakant Pandit, and bowling coach Bharat Arun.
The newly appointed captain Rahane alongside Eden Gardens curator Sujan Mukherjee performed the rituals on the field. They placed a garland on the stumps, broke a coconut and seeked divine blessings ahead of IPL.

There were several key players who were present in the opening day, this included Andre Russell and Anrich Nortje. The iconic Eden Gardens will host the season opener between KKR and RCB on March 22.
The former KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer, who was released before the IPL 2025 auction. He was later acquired by Punjab Kings for ₹26.75 crore.
