The 22-year-old batter Smaran Ravichandran, from Karnataka, who had replaced Adam Zampa in the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) squad, has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2025 after picking up an injury. He has been replaced by Harsh Dubey.
Dubey’s Brilliance In Domestic Circuit
Dubey is a left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder who plays for Vidarbha in the domestic circuit. He broke the record for the most wickets in a single Ranji Trophy season, picking up 69 wickets during Vidarbha’s title-winning run in 2024–25. This took him one past Ashutosh Aman’s previous record of 68 wickets set in the 2018–19 season. Dubey joins SRH for Rs. 30 lakh, his base price at the last IPL auction.
Despite his outstanding Ranji Trophy performance, Dubey has had moderate returns in the white-ball formats: 21 wickets from 20 innings at an average of 34.66 in List A cricket, and nine wickets from 16 innings with an economy rate of 6.78 in T20s. However, his stock has risen considerably since his record-breaking red-ball season.

SRH’s Hard Time In IPL 2025
He joins the IPL at a time when SRH’s 2025 campaign is all but over. After reaching the final in IPL 2024, SRH have managed to win just three of their ten matches so far and currently sit in 9th place on the points table. Even if they win all four of their remaining games, they will only reach 14 points, leaving them dependent on a significant drop in form from the leading teams. Furthermore, their current net run rate of -1.192 is the worst among all ten teams, including the already-eliminated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).

SRH’s next fixture is a home game in Hyderabad against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Monday evening.
