In IPL 2024, Ruturaj Gaikwad stepped up as CSK’s captain, taking over from MS Dhoni. He thrived in the role, scoring 583 runs in 14 matches at an average of 53 and a strike rate of 141.16, including a century and four fifties. Rachin Ravindra had a quiet IPL 2024, scoring 222 runs in 10 matches with a strike rate of 160.87. However, he bounced back strongly in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, earning Player of the Tournament honors with 263 runs at 68.75. If selected, he could be a game-changer.

Chahar is generally a swing bowler but first ball to Tripathi and he goes short, rushes him around the left shoulder and the pull does not come off, the ball hits the glove and lobs behind for Rickelton who takes a simple catch. Mumbai needed an early wicket and Chahar has delivered.

It was always going to be a trial against spin at the Chepauk and the Mumbai Indians batters have failed to cope with Chennai's spin trio especially Noor Ahmad. Losing three wickets in the powerplay didn't help either as Rohit fell in the first over, Rickelton didn't last long and so did Will Jacks. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma steadied the innings with a 51-run partnership but that's when Noor's magic started. He deceived SKY with a googly and then accounted for Minz and Tilak in the same over. The Mumbai Indians innings was going nowhere as Noor recorded figures of 4/18. Noor Ahmad to Tilak Varma, out Lbw!! That is a body blow from Noor Ahmad. This is why having left-arm wristies with a googly is such a lethal weapon against a team with LHBs. Tilak didn't read this googly. Only wanted to nudge to get though and keep strike but he missed the ball completely and impact was right in front of off stump. Flighted googly outside off stump, Robin wanted to break-free but it's next to impossible if you don't pick up variations from the hand. All he did was pick up long-off. MI in trouble now.
Noor Ahmad to Suryakumar Yadav, out Stumped!! He is the next thing to the speed of light is MS Dhoni. SKY didn't even complete the bat swing when Dhoni ignited the stumps. Those firm hands that don't go back on the gather and that aggressive forward push towards the stumps always and SKY is stumped. Noor gets his first CSK wicket and it's a big one. Was always a risk trying to take on Noor because it's difficult to read him from the hand.
