Brook vs Umesh: First over

Umesh Yadav went wide outside off for the first ball, Harry Brook threw his bat at it and it races away to the offside fence.

Fourth ball of the first is slightly short from Umesh, Brook pulled it through the mid-on area and got another boundary.

Umesh went full outside off next ball and Brook moved across and paddled it past the widish fine leg. That was innovation and it’s a shot that gave him a lot of confidence.

And it had been all Harry Brook. He had already matched his highest IPL score thus far. Some good shots in first over and he just leaved that last ball, walked to the other side almost unbothered when he seems that the umpire has not called that wide for height.

Russell’s double strike

All-rounder Andre Russell gave KKR their first breakthrough and he went on scalping second wicket in the same over.

Andre Russell got his first wicket of the season. Short of a length outside off, Agarwal cramped for room and he edged it to short third man.

Russell celebrated even before the wicketkeeper completed the catch! Tripathi top edged his pull and it was an easy enough chance for a wicketkeeper.

Earlier in the game, Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) captain Nitish Rana won the toss against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and decided to bowl first.

Kolkata Knight Riders (Playing XI): Rahmanullah Gurbaz(w), N Jagadeesan, Nitish Rana(c), Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, Suyash Sharma, Lockie Ferguson, Varun Chakaravarthy
