IPL 2023: The management of IPL franchise Delhi Capitals on Thursday confirmed that Australian batter David Warner will lead the team in absence of Rishabh Pant in the upcoming IPL season.
Team management appointed allrounder Axar Patel as deputy captain for season 2023.
“Rishabh has been a terrific leader for Delhi Capitals, and we’re all going to miss having him around. I would like to thank the management for the faith and trust they’ve always shown in me. This franchise has always been home for me, and I couldn’t be more excited to lead such a supremely talented bunch of players. I can’t wait to meet them all, and get cracking!” David Warner said in a statement

Along with appointing Warner as captain and Axar as his deputy, Delhi Capitals also announced to designate former BCCI President Saurabh Ganguly as Director of cricket.
Saurabh had been associated with Delhi Capitals as a mentor during the 2019 season.
