New Delhi: Delhi Capitals (DC) registered their first victory of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 as they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 4-wicket at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Thursday, April 20. DC’s skipper David Warner played crucial 57 runs knock to hand DC maiden win of the cash-rich league.

Most runs against a team in IPL

With his glittering fifty David Warner now has surpassed India and Mumbai Indians’ (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma to become the batter who has scored the most runs against the Kolkata-based franchise. The Aussie has notched up a staggering 1042 runs in 26 innings with an emphatic strike rate of 146.

Players with most runs against single team

The ‘hit-man’ is now placed on the second position with 1040 runs from 32 innings. He is followed by Shikhar Dhawan (850 runs) and the legendary Suresh Raina (829 runs) in the elite list.

Warner’s IPL career

The Australian southpaw Warner has shown immense consistency for Delhi Capitals, with now players were showing up the team he alone stood there and waged lone battles.

The ace opener has played 168 matches and has amassed 6166 runs at a decent average of 42.23. Moreover, he is currently the third-highest run-getter in the history of the league with four centuries and 59 half-centuries. Only Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan are ahead of him.

DC vs KKR highlight

Skipper David Warner found his perfect hitting arc after Ishant Sharma rolled back the years but even then Delhi Capitals stuttered badly in a modest chase before beating Kolkata Knight Riders by four wickets on Thursday to stay afloat in this edition of the IPL. With their backs to the wall after five defeats on the trot, the DC bowling line-up collectively came to the party as KKR managed only 127 on a spicy deck which aided both pacers and spinners alike.
