Maiden over by Starc
Day 2 Recap: Travis Head showcased a masterclass in batting with a spectacular 152, steering Australia into a commanding position on Day 2 of the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Brisbane. His innings was the cornerstone of Australia’s recovery after a shaky start, as the hosts were teetering at 75/3. Steve Smith provided excellent support, anchoring the innings with a gritty century. Together, the duo stitched a pivotal partnership that propelled Australia to 326/4, turning the tide firmly in their favor.
India’s bowling attack struggled to make inroads for most of the day, but Jasprit Bumrah stood out as the beacon of hope. The ace pacer was relentless, picking up five of the seven wickets to fall. He started strong by dismissing openers Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney in the first session and returned with the second new ball to dislodge the key wickets of Smith, Head, and Mitchell Marsh. Despite Bumrah’s heroics, the rest of the bowlers found little success.
Adding to India’s woes, Alex Carey chipped in with a brisk 44 late in the innings, helping Australia breach the 400-run mark and tighten their grip on the game. As Day 3 looms, the visitors face an uphill battle to claw their way back into the contest.
