India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has firmly pushed back the speculations regarding the ODI future of both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma saying that there is “no need” to think about the 2027 World Cup when both the players are delivering consistently.
Kotak hailed about Kohli’s match-winning knock and described it as another important reminder about the experience he carries. He further added that the presence of stalwarts like Rohit and Virat boost the team confidence with their top performances.
“It was an outstanding knock, obviously. He batted really well, not just in the one-day format but all the formats he has done well,” Kotak said. “This was the 52nd ODI hundred he got, so he’s a thoroughly outstanding player, and he took responsibility, and the way he batted was very good. I think the back is okay, I mean, as much as I know he’s fine.”
When Kotak was questioned about India’s long-term planning and whether the team management was considering phasing out the duo in regard to the next World Cup. Kotak dismissed that chatter and said that the focus should remain on the present.
“They’re both obviously such experienced players, it’s always great to have them and their partnership and all, it makes a huge difference, so they obviously batted really well.”

“I don’t know why we need to look at all this. He’s really batting well. I don’t see any reason we need to talk about his future,” he said.
“It’s just the way he’s batting, it’s just brilliant, man. I wouldn’t really. The way he’s performing, the way he maintains his fitness, there is, there are no questions about anything.”
In Ranchi, the Indian Team won against South Africa by 17 runs and this was all possible because of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli who scored 57 and 135 respectively. Kuldeep Yadav was also outstanding with the ball and picked up four wickets to strengthen India’s dominance.
