Harmanpreet Kaur led Team India made it to the 2025 Women’s World Cup final, after winning semifinal against seven-time champions Australia. The Women in Blue pulled off one of the greatest turnarounds seen in women’s ODI history. Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet led from the front as India completed a record run chase of 338 to send the Aussies packing and storm into the final. India will now have an opportunity of their lifetime to recreate their own “1983 moment” as they take on South Africa in the title clash on Sunday at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
This is a first-ever appearance by South Africa in a Women’s World Cup final, while India will be playing their third. A new name is guaranteed on the trophy, setting up a high-voltage showdown between two hungry sides for glory.

However, the weather may just turn out to be a spoilsport. Rain threats loom large over Navi Mumbai, with forecasts indicating that there could be interruptions at least through the afternoon. There is a reserve day in store, but the officials will surely try to get the match over on Sunday itself. As many as continuous showers on Friday and Saturday spoiled the final preparations of both teams.

According to the AccuWeather forecast, there’s a 15% chance at 2 PM, building up towards a 20% chance near the 3 PM start. The chances go up to almost 50% between 4 and 6 PM before easing off to around 20% later in the evening. If the forecast holds good, the final might see some delays, or even a shortened-overs contest – something that could tempt both captains into bowling first, with a thought for the rain interruptions.
