Despite being ruled out due to injury, Pratika Rawal made sure she didn’t miss India’s joyous celebration after their triumph in the Women’s World Cup. On Sunday, in the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, she joined her teammates proudly as they were draped in the Indian tricolour and wheeled out in a chair as the nation celebrated a 52-run triumph over South Africa.
After the match, Pratika was on cloud nine and she expressed that the feeling was absolutely surreal and also praised the crowd for the constant support.

“I can’t put this feeling into words. This flag on my shoulder means everything, and standing here with the team feels surreal. Injuries are part and parcel of the game, but I’m just so happy to have been part of this winning side. I love this team,” Pratika said after the match.

“It feels incredible that we finally made it — the first to win a World Cup after such a long wait — and the crowd truly deserves this moment. It was tough to sit out and watch, much harder than playing. The energy and atmosphere gave me goosebumps every time there was a wicket or a six. It’s simply amazing,” Pratika concluded
Pratika was ruled of the tournament after she sustained a serious injury in match against Bangladesh. But she was over the moon having being part of India’s winning squad. The 21-year old joined in the historic moment even though she could not play due to her injury. She had an exceptional campaign scoring 308 runs in seven matches with an average of 51.33 and a strike rate of 77.77. Her best knock came against New Zealand when she hit a stunning 122 which turned India’s fortunes after three successive losses against England, Australia and South Africa in group stage.

In the World Cup final against South Africa, India batted first and put up a solid total of 298, Shefali Varma took the charge and scored a dashing knock of 87 runs. Deepti Sharma also contributed with a half-century.
