India played the second T20I against South Africa on December 11, Thursday at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh PCA Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh. This time India won the toss and opted to bowl first but the Proteas came in a solid form and set a target of 213 runs batting first. The Proteas were absolutely dominant and while Quinton de Kock displayed solid batting skills, Baartman on the other side did wonders while bowling he picked 4 wickets by just giving away 24 runs. An all-round effort by South Africa took them towards a perfect win by 51 runs as they crushed India in second T20I.
The Mullanpur pitch definitely offered support as it is already a very batting-friendly pitch. Quinton de Kock smashed 90 runs off 46 balls, and the other batters like Aiden Markram (29), Donovan Ferreira (30) and David Miller (20) also made their significant contribution.

The Indian bowlers on the other hand struggled to pick wickets and the premier pace attack – Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah both went wicket-less. Varun Chakaravarthy was the only bowler who brought two crucial breakthroughs.

In the second innings, India were off to a disastrous start and India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav and vice-captain Shubman Gill again failed to perform. Shubman Gill was dismissed for a duck by Lungi Nigidi and Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for 5 runs by Marco Jansen. Axar Patel tried to hold the fort but was eventually was out at the score of 21.
Tilak Varma was the sole-warrior who stood tall and scored a magnificent half-century while the wickets kept falling. Hardik Pandya also tried building a partnership with Tilak but he was also dismissed early at the score of 20. Jitesh Sharma came in to bat and showed some explosive batting but at the score of 27 he was also dismissed as Baartman took a stunning catch. Shivam Dube put up a poor show and went back to pavilion at the mere score of 1. India faced a complete collapse while batting and there will definitely be lessons from the match.

The Proteas were magnificent on-field, they displayed proper team effort in batting, bowling and fielding which eventually led them towards a comeback victory against India by 51 runs.
