The incident occurred during the fourth over's last delivery. Muneeba, having been barely given LBW by a close call off Kranti Gaud a decision India had decided against reviewing though replays later indicated all three stumps in red carelessly stepped out of her crease. India's Deepti Sharma sensing the moment, threw the ball at the stumps and found Muneeba short. Although the dismissal was within the rules technically, the way it took place raised controversy among fans and commentators. It was argued by former Australian cricketer Mel Jones, who was commentating at the time, referring to the MCC rules, that the batter might have perhaps been declared not out, further confusing the situation.
Pakistan fast bowler Diana Baig spoke to the press after the match, defusing the controversy. Asked about the situation, she merely said that the issue had been settled and did not provide any further information.

"Muneeba's run-out issue has already been settled, I believe. I don't want to talk much about it now. Whatever happened and whatever the situation was, I think it has been resolved."
