India registered a dashing win against Pakistan in the Super Fours of Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. India won the toss and opted to bowl first and Pakistan started steady.
Sahibzada Farhan (58), Saim Ayub (21), Mohammad Nazaw (21) and Faheem Ashraf (20) managed to set a target of 171. But that wasn’t enough as the Indian openers Abhishek Sharma (74) and Shubman Gill (47) came in and wrecked havoc on field leaving Pakistan absolutely clueless.
After the match Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha seemed disappointed and opened up about the loss. He mentioned that the Indian batters took the game away and a little more runs would have been beneficial for the team.
Pakistan are yet to play the perfect game and admits India’s batters took the game away in the powerplay. He says they could have got 15 more runs after being 91 in 10 overs but adds that 171 was still a good total. HIs choice of bowlers revolves around “a right place, right timing” kind of thinking. He says Rauf and Faheem bowled well and that they were looking forward to the game against Sri Lanka” Salman Agha said in post-match presentation.
With this victory, India move to the top of the Super 4 table courtesy of a superior net run rate. Bangladesh, who also have two points after defeating Sri Lanka earlier, sit second. Sri Lanka and Pakistan are yet to register a win and occupy the third and fourth spots respectively.
