India crushed Pakistan for the second time in Asia Cup 2025, both the teams played against each other in the Super fours and India registered a victory by 6 wickets. The Suryakumar Yadav and co. were dominant since the very start and it turned up to be a thrilling encounter. But the match between India-Pakistan remains surrounded by controversy.
In the first match, the Indian players refused to shake hands with the Pakistani side – a decision which left the PCB fuming. Even Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha did not show up for the post match presentation and a huge “no-handshake” controversy ignited. The PCB even lodged a complaint to ICC which dragged in match referee Andy Pycroft.
In the second match, there was a heated confrontation between Abhishek Sharma and Pakistani bowler Haris Rauf. Sharma hammered the opposition with a masterclass batting followed by Shubman Gill’s stellar performance. But after the loss, the Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha showed up for the presentation despite not shaking hands with the Indian players.
He reflected on the team’s performance saying – “We are yet to play a perfect game, but we are getting there. A great game but in the powerplay they took the game away from us. Looking back with the position we were in after 10 overs, we could have got 10-15 more. 170-180 is a good total but in the powerplay they batted well, that was the difference. If you see the bowlers are going for runs, you need to change it, that’s how it goes in T20s. There’s a lot of positives – the way Fakhar batted, Farhan batted and Harry bowled. Looking forward to the next game against Sri Lanka.”
With this dashing win India extended its winning streak to 12 matches while Pakistan has just won 3. Both the teams have played 15 T20Is in total and it is now very evident that India is a dominant force while Pakistan remains to be a weak link.
