IND Vs NZ: ‘That’s Why He Has Been Backed’, Gautam Gambhir Signals KL Rahul’s Possible Spot In Playing XI

Despite KL Rahul's poor show in the first Test it seems that Gautam Gambhir wants to give KL Rahul another chance in the second Test against New Zealand.

Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of team India came to the defence of struggling batter KL Rahul, saying the team management opinions matter rather than social media criticism that he has been facing. KL Rahul registered mere scores of 0 and 10 in the first Test against New Zealand. This has put him under tight scrutiny, but despite a dip in form Gautam Gambhir might give him another chance as India’s head coach believes his run scoring abilities and the experience he brings to the team.

‘Social Media Doesn’t Matter’: Says Gambhir

“Social media does not matter one bit. What the team management and leadership group thinks is very important. He is batting really well, had a decent knock in Kanpur (against Bangladesh on a difficult wicket,” Gambhir told reporters when asked about Kl Rahul’s place in the team.

KL Rahul Has The Capability To Score Runs

“I am sure he would be knowing that he has to score big runs and he has capability of scoring runs. That’s why he has been backed by the team…Ultimately, everyone is judged. International cricket is all about being judged,” Gambhir added.

‘Didn’t Show Any Intention With Bat’

“Cricket, sports are a big leveller. If we have enjoyed days like Kanpur we had to endure what happened in Bengaluru. We didn’t show any intention to bat out the remainder of the two and a half days,” Gambhir said after facing a shocking defeat against New Zealand

Sarfaraz Khan scored 150 in the first Test, this has added on to his strugle to claim a spot in the 2nd Test against New Zealand. The Kiwis are now ahead in this three-match series, after gaining a comfortable victory in Bengaluru. Team India vere dominant in Test series against Bangladesh but tables turned when they played their first Test against New Zealand.
