India secured an incredible win by four wickets against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy Final 2025, claiming the prestigious title for the third time. India was supposed to chase a target of 252 and the Men In Blue successfully chased it in 49 overs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The win adds onto India’s previous wins, first as joint winners in 2002, second dominating win in 2013 and now reclaiming the 2025 title.
After the victory, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar danced in immense joy and celebrated India’s win after 12 years.

In the Champions Trophy final, India’s spinners delivered an excellent performance and restricted New Zealand at 251/7 after the Kiwis opted to bat first. Kuldeep Yadav (2/40) and Varun Chakaravarthy (2/45) led India’s bowling lineup while Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami took one wicket each.
India batting second, started strongly with a 100+ runs partnership without losing any wickets. Both the openers, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill seemed good at the crease with Rohit attacking from one end while Gill building the innings from the other. Rohit reached another explosive half century but was dismissed at 76 runs. Gill was dismissed with a phenomenal aerial catch from the ‘Flying Kiwi’, Glenn Phillips at short covers at when Gill was at 31 runs. The Chase master Virat Kohli was dismissed by Michael Bracewell on 1 run while Shreyas Iyer fell short of just 2 runs from a potential half century. Axar Patel gave a good hand with the bat under pressure when ultimately he was caught at deep mid wicket. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja led the team to victory.
