Its a historic victory for New Zealand as they’ve won their first Test against India, the victory is even more special as it is the first time since 1988 that the Kiwis have won a Test match on Indian soil. New Zealand came into play the last day with 107 runs to chase. Will Young (48) and Rachin Ravindra (39) were the star players to lead New Zealand towards a win. While India on the other hand struggled to stop New Zealand, Rishabh Pant (99) and Sarfaraz Khan (150) were the star performers for India but their efforts went in vain as Team India could not stop the storm named New Zealand who had established its dominance since Day 1.

Team India’s Batting Lineup Crumbled

The first Test between India and New Zealand got underway, with the weather not in favour on Day 1, the situation changed on day 2 as both the skippers came out for the toss and the Indian team captain Rohit Sharma elected to bat first but the decision doesn’t seem to go their way. India already lost 3 crucial wickets. The very first delivery of the second session was a shocker for Team India as Matt Henry caught Ravichandran Ashwin for a duck. Matt Henry has done wonders for the New Zealand team as he also sent back Rishabh Pant (20) and Ravindra Jadeja (0). Going further Jasprit Bumrah was dismissed by William O’Rourke at a mere score of 1.Following which the last wicket also fell in succession as Kuldeep Yadav was dismissed by Matt Henry. This marked five-wickets for Matt Henry in the very first Test against India. It was shocking to see that Team India registered 5 ducks in one innings following which India was 46 all out.

New Zealand Shines With The Bat

New Zealand ended Day 2 at 180/3, thanks to the solidity of CSK players Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell, who anchored the innings. It was, however, CSK’s other star man that was going to create a meltdown with a difference during the day- Devon Conway, who blasted 91 nearly twice the total achieved in the first innings by the Indian team. Rachin Ravindra scored 134 runs and his batting was a definition of genuine masterclass.

Virat Kohli’s Stunning 70

It was a dramatic finish as the star of the game, Virat Kohli, went dismissal right on the last ball of the day, and the third day of the 1st test between India and New Zealand came to an end in dramatic fashion at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Kohli had consolidated splendidly, still unbeaten at 70, when stumps approached, but courtesy Glenn Phillips, the innings ended for him. Kohli brought up his 31st Test half-century and achieved the milestone of 9,000 Test runs. Along with Sarfaraz Khan, who was not out on 70, the duo built a good 136-run third wicket partnership. However, India still trailed New Zealand’s first innings total of 402 by 125 runs with two days of play remaining.

Rishabh Pant- Sarfaraz Khan’s Incredible Partnership

The Day 4 came to an early end due to bag light, followed by rain in the 1st Test between India and New Zealand in Bengaluru on Saturday. Sarfaraz Khan blazed his way to an impressive 150 before Rishabh Pant came good with a brisk 99 as India amassed 462 all out in their second innings. India set target of 107 to New Zealand. However New Zealand could not even start their innings as rain broke into the play during the last session and they could face just four deliveries before day’s action was called off.

This also marks New Zealand’s first win on Indian soil since 1988.
