India’s defeat against New Zealand definitely came as a shock and Team India will surely be looking for a way to bounce back stronger. Dinesh Karthik has weighed in and highlighted that India’s ace new-ball bowler Jasprit Bumrah needs some rest and should not take the field for the third and last Test against New Zealand. Karthik would be happy to see Mohammed Siraj return for the contest starting on November 1 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Siraj played in the opening Test of the series that began on October 22 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. However, his place in the second Test at MCA Stadium in Pune went to Akash Deep.

Jasprit Bumrah Needs ‘Rest’

Bumrah has so far had forgettable start to the two Tests he has played picking just three wickets to this point at an economy rate of 3.09. This after ten years of record home Test series winning streak for India, which came to end after being defeated by New Zealand 2-0. Rohit Sharma-led side lost by 113 runs in Pune Saturday after suffering as eight-wicket victims in Bengaluru.

“Jasprit Bumrah definitely needs a rest without a doubt. That is happening, and you will see Mohammed Siraj come in. I can’t think of any other change unless someone has a niggle. I don’t see any reason why the batters who played this game or the bowlers should not get an opportunity,” Karthik told Cricbuzz.

Dinesh Karthik Disappointed After India’s Loss Against NZ

“The loss and the disappointment of the defeat are still weighing very heavily on my mind. I am not able to think very clearly what the XI will be. It’s too short a notice to be honest. But if I had to think straight away, I would say rest Bumrah and bring back Siraj,” Karthik added.

In the second innings Team India were bowled in just 245 runs, this left them with a massive target of 359. Dinesh Karthik was quite disappointed with the poor show Team India had put up. It is very important for India to bounce back as the WTC qualification is at stake and with upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy it is even more crucial to regain the lost form and momentum.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
