The second Test against New Zealand which is being held at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune has witnessed serious batting concerns with Team India. It started at a good note when Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar spun a web to tackle the New Zealand batters and restricted them on a score of 259. Washington Sundar took 7 wickets and was the star bowler for Team India. At lunch Team India is at the score of 107/7 in 38.0 overs.

The top batters for New Zealand in the first innings were Devon Conway (76) and Rachin Ravindra (65). When India came to bat in the second innings, it immediately received a shock as Rohit Sharma fell for a duck as he was bowled by Tim Southee.

On the Day 2 when the play resumed, Shubman Gill and Yashavi Jaiswal were looking to build a strong partnership but Shubman Gill was dismissed at the score of 30. A big shock came in for India when Virat Kohli came in to bat but fell victim to another unfortunate dismissal, the ball crashed into the stumps, this crucial breakthrough to New Zealand was provided by Mitchell Santner.

The situation couldn’t get any worse for India, Glenn Philips bowled a length ball and trapped Yashasvi Jaiswal (30). He further went on to trap Rishabh Pant and dismissed him at a score of 18.

A lot of expectations were there from Sarfaraz Khan but Mitchell Santner drowned all of them and took his wicket at the score of 11. Santner further dismissed Ravichandran Ashwin (4).
