The New Zealand team is well placed at the end of Day 5 of their first Test against India at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The Black Caps, need 107 to win, are in good position courtesy Devon Conway and Tom Latham, who have emerged as the unbeaten batters on Day 4. New Zealand took that and established a significant lead by 356 runs after bowling India out for just 46 in the first innings. However, it was India who staged a comeback with a robust 150 from Sarfaraz Khan and a near-century of 99 by Rishabh Pant that totalled for India at 462 in the second innings.
IND Vs NZ: Rain Constantly Disrupting Play
Rain has already disrupted the play several times and there are chances that same will happen today, forcing all play to be called off completely. Day 5’s prospects are also very poor, according to forecasters, with much cloud cover and little sunshine. Thunderstorms are also likely to drive across town around 9 and 10 AM, possibly pushing the start of play into late morning. Temperatures will be expected to be around 25 degrees Celsius, with high humidity levels at 60-70%. Wind gusts are expected to hover around 9 km/h, and it will yet be another arduous day for the ground staff at M Chinnaswamy Stadium as they ready themselves for yet another possible rain-ruined match.
Day 5: Play Likely To Start On Time
The morning is expected to be cloudy but the ground staff have started their work and making the ground ready for play. The most incredible part about Chinnaswamy stadium is their drainage system, despite rain interrupting the play so many times the drainage system made it easier for the play to resume again.
