Team India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first in the first Test at Bengaluru. They have made two changes, with Sarfaraz Khan and Kuldeep Yadav coming in to replace Shubman Gill – being given a break due to stiffness in his neck – and Akash Deep.

IND Vs NZ: Batting First Backfired On India

Earlier before lunch, first Test between India and New Zealand got underway, with the weather not in favour on Day 1, the situation changed on day 2 as both the skippers came out for the toss and the Indian team captain Rohit Sharma elected to bat first but the decision doesn’t seem to go their way. India has already lost 3 crucial wickets.

The very first delivery of the second session was a shocker for Team India as Matt Henry caught Ravichandran Ashwin for a duck. Matt Henry has done wonders for the New Zealand team as he also sent back Rishabh Pant (20) and Ravindra Jadeja (0).

Going further Jasprit Bumrah was dismissed by William O’Rourke at a mere score of 1.

Following which the last wickets also fell in succession as Kuldeep Yadav was dismissed by Matt Henry. This marked five-wickets for Matt Henry in the very first Test against India.

India’s Batting Collapse

The team India is badly struggling at the score of 46/9 and there’s no damage control that can be done as the batting order has completely collapsed. The New Zealand’s bowling attack came as a nightmare for the Indian team and completely dismantled it. From all the young players to experienced ones all of them failed to leave an impact. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant were the only batters to score a double digit score.

The big question is now that what will be India’s comeback plan, the bowlers have an extremely low score to defend. All eyes will be on Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav but India surely needs a miracle to recover and bounce back into the game.
