Adelaide: England is set to play semi-final fixture against India on 10th November and it will be the ticket to the finale of the tournament. However, right before the game, English side is facing major blow as their star player David Malan suffers injury.
While playing against Sri Lanka, Malan had suffered a groin injury and was taken from the field. The former world No. 1 did not come back to bat and clouds of doubts are hovering on his fitness.
Moeen Ali concerned about Dawid Malan
England vice-captain Moeen Ali is concerned about Malan’s injury and said that it doesn’t look good. While in conversation with BBC, Ali revealed that his injury “doesn’t look great.”
He said, “He is a big player and has been for a number of years. He has been one of our best players. I don’t know but it (Malan’s injury) doesn’t look great.”
“It doesn’t get bigger and better than playing India anywhere in the world because of the crowds and they are such a big side and force in cricket, he added.
Who will replace David Malan?
Currently, Phil Salt in the only player in the English squad who can replace the star batter. However, exclusion of Malan can have many negative impacts on England’s performance in the game.
