Nitish Kumar Reddy showed his potential as a bright Indian batter in the second T20I between India and Bangladesh at New Delhi. All-rounder and match-winner Nitish Kumar Reddy led his team to a comprehensive 86-run victory that helped India take an unassailable lead in the series 2-0. It was a total of 222 runs placed in front of Bangladesh to chase, but a stiff challenge lay before the guests as Bangladesh managed to score only 135/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Nitish contributed with the ball too, getting rid of two batsmen, and Varun Chakravarthy’s line of bowling was impressive as he took 2 for 19. Nitish, coming in at No 4, did what he does best as he scored an astonishing 74 off just 34 balls, four boundaries and seven sixes to celebrate. Rinku Singh batted well too, putting on a rapid 53 off 29 balls with five fours and three sixes that helped India total 221/9.

Nitish was handed the bat when India was badly struggling at 41/3, and he really found a significant century partnership with Rinku which boosted the score to 149/4 in 13.2 overs before getting dismissed. The Player of the Match was given to him for his excellent all-round display.
“To be honest, I should thank Gautam sir for this. He gave me a lot of confidence and told me to believe in my bowling,” he said, speaking to BCCI
“(He said) ‘when you are bowling, you should think like a bowler and not as a batsman who can bowl’. That is what he kept telling me and that somehow boosted me.”

Nitish arrived at the crease when India was struggling to reach 41/3 and soon settled into a century stand with Rinku, taking his team to 149/4 in mere 13.2 overs before he was dismissed. Reddy scored 74 runs and took 2 crucial wickets, his all-round contributions for his side fetched him Player of the Match.
