Team India had won the toss and chose to bowl first, this certainly went into team’s favor and Bangladesh were restricted to 127 on the board with Hardik Pandya leading the way for India with 39 not out; Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Sason also chipped in with 29 runs each. This seven-wicket victory made for an excellent start to the three-match T20I series for the young Indian squad, with two debutants and just three members of their T20 World Cup winning team.

Bangladesh, sticking to a well-known batting order, could hardly cope with the pressure from the very beginning as Litton Das lost his wicket for a rather rash shot in the first over. Their attempted assault on the Gwalior pitch, which had offered some uneven bounce, saw Bangladesh’s batting remain pretty chancy and come apart at the seams against the Indian disciplined attack after the early breakthroughs by Arshdeep Singh.
Mayank Yadav made a great debut with a maiden over, while Varun Chakravarthy effectively denigrated the middle order. India was chasing a mere target of128 runs to win easily in an exhibition of their dominance over the whole match, ending with 49 balls to spare.
Arshdeep Singh’s Magical Spell
Opening the bowling and climbing rapidly up the wickets list for India, Arshdeep Singh began on a good note, using just enough swing to keep young Parvez Hossain Emon one of the very few fresh faces in the Bangladesh ranks, in check. Emon opened his account with a boundary off the first ball, prompting some adjustments in the field, as one fielder moved from short third to leg side. However, he attempted to negotiate the field placement on the second ball and became a victim of Arshdeep’s smart angle. In his second over, Arshdeep struck again and sent back Parvez, who had earlier sent a six over the ropes off Hardik Pandya. Bangladesh was left reeling at 14 for 2 after just 2.1 overs.

His final victim was Mustafizur Rahman, who fell just at the score of 1. This impressive performance sealed 3 wickets for Arshdeep by giving away just 14 runs and an incredible economy of 3.65.
Speedster Mayank Yadav Makes Masterclass Debut
Murali Kartik, a former India spinner, presented Mayank Yadav with his debut cap after he was named in the playing XI. Yadav was quick to make an impression in his maiden over, bowling a maiden to Towhid Hridoy. He went on to earn his first international wicket by sending batting experience Mahmudullah back into the hut.
Varun Chakravarthy Spins His Way Towards Win
Varun Chakravarthy was back in form after nearly three years when he grabbed three crucial wickets in the first T20I against Bangladesh. He kept the Bangladeshi batting line-up worried with his impressive bowling figure of 3 for 31, frustrating the batters with tough deliveries. A striking instance was when he bowled Jaker Ali with a sharply turning ball. Though he started off by conceding 15 runs in his first over, Varun regained his rhythm soon, and was soon enough knocking over Towhid Hridoy (12) and re-tangling the order of Bangladesh’s batters.
