IND Vs BAN: Basit Ali Advises Yashasvi Jaiswal To Capitalize On His Opportunities

Yashasvi Jaiswal is first Indian cricket player ever to score over 1,000 runs in the first ten Test matches

India dominated the entire game in their opening Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, winning over Bangladesh by a comprehensive 280 runs. Rohit Sharma had the Indians up to mark in batting, bowling, and fielding duties, extending the series lead to 1-0.

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali reacted to the Indian team’s dominance but sounded a word of caution to talented opener Yashasvi Jaiswal – to not squander opportunities. Jaiswal batted with much resistance in amassing 56 off 118 in the first innings, but in his second innings, he had little luck, scoring only 10 off 17.

‘Ab Nahi Seekhega Toh Kab Seekhega’ Says Basit Ali

“Yashasvi Jaiswal played bonker shots in both the innings. For me, this match is zero for Jaiswal. He is my favourite as well. But usko seekhna chahiye, ab nahi sikhega toh kab seekhega (He should learn. If he doesn’t learn now when will he?),” said Basit Ali on his YouTube channel.

Nahid Rana got him out both times-one was a short ball he edged to first slip, and the other was a full ball that Jaiswal attempted to drive through the covers to find Litton Das waiting at wicketkeeping gloves. Basit Ali said that Jaiswal should avail of all that is coming his way.

Jaiswal Needs To Keep Up With The Form

“When you have the form, grab it. Don’t get out playing playing poor shots. This is a matter of worry for India,” he added.

Yashasvi Jaiswal made some fantastic records. He took the record of being the first batter in Test history to score more than 750 runs within the first ten innings at home, besides taking the record of being the first Indian cricket player ever to score over 1,000 runs in the first ten Test matches.
