The dismal performances by India captain Rohit Sharma with the bat in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia have not gone unnoticed. The skipper’s struggles had been palpable, with 10 single-digit scores in 15 Test innings across 2024. He has scored only 31 runs in five innings in this series with a run totalling 3, 6, 10, 3, and 9 for an average of 6.20, which is the poorest a touring captain has displayed in Australia.
Rohit Sharma Still Not Confirmed In Playing XI
“Every individual knows in which area they need to work. When you play for your country, you want to give your best. I think the debates between a player and a coach should remain between them – conversations should be restricted to the dressing room. Everything is fine with Rohit and we will announce that (Playing 11) tomorrow, after seeing the pitch. We had just one conversation in our dressing room – how we will win the next test, as it is important for us,” Gambhir said.

“I don’t think it’s anything traditional, I think the Head Coach is here that should be fine and that should be good enough.”
“We are extremely confident to retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy.,” Gambhir added. “The Only conversation that happens is how to win the next match”
Akash Deep Ruled Out Of Final Test
Adding to India’s pain, pacer Akash Deep suffered a back injury and has been ruled out of the final Test. Gambhir confirmed the setback. This is left for India to decide on a crucial issue related to the bowling lineup before the must-win match ahead.
Australia Dominate With 2-1 Lead
Australia took a comprehensive 184-run victory in the Melbourne Test and moved to 2-1 ahead in the series. This defeat greatly diminished India’s prospects of making it to the World Test Championship Final at Lord’s next year. For India, a win in Sydney is essential to keep their dim hope of WTC final alive.
