The highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final between India and Australia is set to take place in Dubai, and while fans are focused on key players and pitch conditions, one often-overlooked factor could play a crucial role—the toss battle between Rohit Sharma and Steve Smith.
Why Winning The Toss Is An Advantage?
In the 2023 ODI World Cup Final India lost the toss and eventually lost the match also despite 10 consecutive wins. The Dubai pitch can yield high scores batting first, later the pitch gives more advantage to the bowlers. So India needs to bat first in order to keep Australia on back foot.
Rohit Sharma’s Toss Struggle
Rohit Sharma has been unlucky with the coin and won 4 out of every 10 tosses as India’s ODI captain. He has lost 10 consecutive ODI tosses entering Champions Trophy 2025.

Dubai Pitch For India Vs Australia Match
The surface at Dubai is slower and more challenging compared to the batting friendly pitches in Pakistan. The sluggish nature of the track means that the matches are comparatively low scoring favouring bowlers- especially spinners. With India having a strong spin attack, with Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and possibly Varun Chakravarthy, the team will look forward to make the most out of those spin firendly conditions in Dubai.
The toss for India vs Australia match in Champions Trophy semifinal will take place at 2pm.
