Australia fast bowler Scott Boland almost made his Test Cricket dream return with a sensational delivery that sent KL Rahul’s wicket, closely left of the stick, with his first ball of the Adelaide Test.
Brilliant Delivery From Boland
Boland got a sharp ball just short of off stump, climbing awkwardly from a good length, which surprised KL Rahul. The delivery jumped at an uncomfortable height to catch Rahul off guard. The Indian opener tried to defend from the crease but couldn’t cope with the bounce as he edged the ball towards wicketkeeper Alex Carey.

The Appeal And Initial Decision
The Australian players immediately appealed as the ball passed through to Carey, and the umpire raised his finger in response. Rahul had already begun walking off the field, convinced he was out.

The No-Ball Controversy
The drama however didn’t end there. Before Rahul could leave the field, the on-field umpire consulted third umpire Richard Kettleborough for a review. Checking the footage, it was revealed that Boland had overstepped the line, and the on-field umpire signaled it as a no-ball. Despite his outstanding delivery, Boland’s wicket was ruled out due to the overstep.
